At Grants, we know quality and excellence starts with the salmon. That is why we insist on the best. The world is increasingly reliant of farmed fish products, but at Grants we only use Atlantic salmon supplied from companies with the highest aquaculture and environmentally-accredited standards. We only use salmon free from growth promoters and chemical supplements, which are hand fed and raised in low density pens. Harvesting must be carried out according to the highest animal welfare standards to avoid stress to the fish and to ensure the best quality salmon. All our suppliers must also meet the highest standards of ensuring minimal impact on the local environment and we insist on full traceability for every fish.
As a responsible company we also make sure none of the fish is wasted. Once the prime salmon has been removed for our products the remainder is then distributed to other companies who convert the bones and other surplus fish into everything from fertilizer to pet food.

It goes without saying, our premises meet the highest possible food safety standards and sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, whether this is using recycled packaging where possible, to smoking our fish using real oak chips from sustainable sources. At Grants we care for the fish, our customers and the planet.

To qualify for the accreditation, BAP examined every aspect of our business, from our premises, the fish we use and the environmental, food safety and working procedures we follow.

To get the accreditation confirms, once again, Grants is an industry leader. Not only do our products win numerous awards for their taste and quality, this accreditation proves they are produced to the highest possible standard.

Getting BAP accreditation is another major confirmation of our family firm’s reputation for quality.
In 2019, Grants was the first smokehouse in the UK to become BAP (Best Aquaculture Practice) Certified. As the part of the Global Aquaculture Alliance, BAP promotes food safety, environmental sustainability, social accountability, and animal welfare across the entire seafood industry through a detailed and stringent compliance certification process.
